Y DNA, Origins, and Deeper Ancestry

As of July 2020, there has been at least one descendant of James Harsha to take a Y DNA test, which has established Y12895 as the terminal haplogroup for this line. By testing to this haplogroup, this indicates this line is also a branch of haplogroup BY3368. Haplogroup BY3368 has a number of advance-tested individuals (Big Y tests), which strongly suggest this line is linked to SW Scotland as early as the 12th century. Note that the earliest records available via the Scotlands People site, show an Archibald Harshaw in both Lanark and Glasgow, between 1629 and 1666.
