Biography

John was born on March 13th, 1816 in Pennsylvania.[1]

He married Margaret Taylor on June 5th, 1834 in Fayette County, Pennsylvania. Sometime after their marriage the couple moved from Pennsylvania to Ohio, as seen on the 1850 census.[2] Between 1850 and 1854 the family had moved onto Noble County, Indiana, as that is where his wife Margaret passed away. Together John and Margaret had at least 11 children; Mary Ann (Hart) Grubb, Nancy (Hart) Sweet, Matthew Hart, William Hart, James Hart, Samuel Hart, Sarah (Hart) Watt, George Hart, John Hart, Margaret Hart & Susan (Hart) Herendeen.

After the death of Margaret John married Mary (Hanlon) Hart on February 3rd, 1859 in Noble County.[3] The couple stayed in Noble county as seen on the 1860 census.[4]

John then passed away on October 1, 1864 at just 48 years old, leaving Mary to care for her younger step children. He was laid to rest in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Kendallville, Noble County, Indiana.[5]
