John was born about 1894 in Moore County, North Carolina. He was the son of Archie Hart and Ida Burns.
When he was 24 he married Rowena Minnie Norris in Greenville Township, North Carolina. They had three boys together. John was a house painter.
He passed away in 1944 in Durham, North Carolina, and was buried in Maplewood Cemetery.
