Biography

Social Activist, Author, Painter, Spiritualist. During the Civil War she served as a nurse with the 32nd Wisconsin Volunteers Infantry. She studied at the School of Design in San Francisco in 1870, and later had a studio doing marine wildlife and portraits. There, she became active in women's rights, where she introduced a legislative bill to allow for women to be appointed as Public Notaries. Inducted into the San Francisco Hall of Fame.
