1810 Census Richland County, South Carolina, USA show him with his father John Hart next door. In his home are himself and his wife.[3]
James S Hart enlisted in the military on 5th Aug 1815. [4]
By 1820 he was living in Lawrence County, Mississippi. Two doors down is listed a Joseph Hart who is a brother to James.[5]
The 1850 Census for Pike County, Mississippi shows James at age 62 with Martha Hart age 25 and Judge M. Hart age 20 in the household.[6]
He married on 4th Dec 1855 Jane Grice born South Carolina in Lawrence County, Mississippi.[7]
By 1860 he is living in Pike County, Mississippi. The census shows his age as 72 with an estimated birth year of 1788. This would match the estimated birth year on previous census records. In the house are his wife, Jane age 32, James B Hart age 2, Ural J Hart age 1, Julia A Ginn age 19, and Narcissa Ginn age 1.[8]
He dies and is buried in Bogue Chitto, Lincoln County, Mississippi in 1865. This is proven by wife, Jane Grice age on census of 1860 and her remaining in the area after his death.[9]
