Henry Warren "Hank" Hartsfield, Jr. (November 21, 1933 – July 17, 2014) was a United States Air Force officer and a USAF and NASA astronaut.

1933 Born in Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama, USA.
1954 Bachelor of Science in Physics, Auburn University.
1955 Entered the U.S. Air Force. During his career, he was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal.
1957 Married Judy Frances Massey on 30 Jun 1957 in Johnston, North Carolina, USA.[1]
1958 Daughter Judy Lynn Hartsfield is born.
1959 Daughter Keely Warren Hartsfield is born.
1966 Selected for the Manned Orbiting Laboratory program, by the Air Force in USAF Group 2. [2]
1969 Selected by NASA in Astronauts Group 7. [3]
1971 Master of Science in Engineering Science, University of Tennessee.
1977 Retired from the Air Force.
1982 Flew on Columbia STS-4 as Pilot with Thomas Kenneth Ken Mattingly II. Awarded the NASA Distinguished Service Medal, his first of 2 and the NASA Space Flight Medal, his first of 3. [4]

1985 Flew on Challenger STS-61-A as Commander with Steven R. Nagel, Bonnie J. Dunbar, James Buchli, Guion Bluford, Reinhard Furrer, Ernst Messerschmid and Wubbo Ockels. Awarded the NASA Space Flight Medal, his third of 3. [4]

1988 Awarded the NASA Distinguished Service Medal, his second of 2, and the NASA Exceptional Service Medal. [4]
1998 Retired from NASA. Joined the Raytheon Company.
2005 Retired from Raytheon.

2014 Died in Houston, Harris, Texas, USA. Wife Judy (21 Dec) and daughter Keely (10 Mar) also died.
