Biography

Joannes was born in 1775. He was the son of John Harting and Maria Brickenhauser. He passed away in 1850 Baptized Muddy Creek Lutheran Church, Cocalico on 17 July 1808

Here will be quotes from his will:John Harding Sr of West Cocalico.

-I have sold all my land to son Jacob Harding, now deceased and his heirs but he could forever reside in house and provide during my lifetime. (monies are very important here and somewhat confusing) $1000 Jacob was to pay for land. -I am in weakly circumstances in body and have already made a great trouble and expense to my son Jacob-having just reason to lay no trust nor confidence in my other sons to keep and maintain me during my natural life.-- -Catharina (daughter-in-law) shall keep maintain me in boarding, washing and mending me in sickness and health as Christian people should do ,

He leaves his monies to DIL Catharina, sons Peter and John -one third each with a smaller amount to a grandson Jonathan Gerhard who mother was deceased. Executor my fried John Reinhold. Signed 9 Nov 1850.

There is also an original will done before his son Jacob died. Catharina remarried at some point.

Note that his John Harding 1797-1859 had moved to Stephenson County Illinois and died there in 1859. NOTE: Both the wills of John Sr. and son Jacob were contested .
