Biography

Ambrose was born between May and September 1879 in St Thomas, Devon. He was the son of Ambrose Hele Hartwell and Frances Ellen (Washer) Hartwell.[1][2]

In the 1881 census Ambrose (age about 1) was living in Exeter Heavitree, Devon, England. Relation to Head of House: Son[2]

In the 1891 census Ambrose (age 11) was living in Aston, Warwickshire, England. Relation to Head of House: Son[3]

In 1901 Ambrose (age about 21) was employed as a Professional Footballer - Defender 1901-1911 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ambrose_Hartwell in Small Heath, Warwickshire, England.

In the 1901 census Ambrose (age 21) was living in Erdington, Warwickshire, England. Relation to Head of House: Son[4]

In the 1911 census Ambrose (age 31) was living in Willesden, Middlesex, England. Single; : Boarder - Professional Footballer staying with Archie P Mitchell - noted Footballer with QPR - 74 Minet Road[5]

When Ambrose was 33 he married on 2 June 1913 in Registry Office Vauxhall. The couple had one child: John Ambrose Hartwell.[6][7][8]
