Biography

Margaret (Harvey) Giffen was an early resident of the Scottish Settlement at Argyle, Illinois.

Margaret was born in 1840 in Argyll, Scotland, the daughter of WIlliam Harvey and Mary Greenlees ^[1] She came to the US as an infant with her family in 1841. They were one of the first families at the Scottish Settlement at Argyle, Illinois. ^[2]

She married William Giffen in 1857.^[3] Margaret passed away in 1907.

The William Giffen family settled in Harlem Township, Winnebago County. ^[4] and were early residents of the Scottish Settlement.

Margaret died in Des Moines, Iowa in 1907. ^[5]
