Biography

Thomas Cockayne Harvey was born on 22nd August 1918 at Biggleswade, Bedfordshire, England. He was the son of John Harvey and Patience Leslie.[1]

On 2nd July 1940 he married Lady Katharine Mary Coke, daughter of Thomas William Coke, 4th Earl of Leicester of Holkham and Marion Gertrude Trefusis. They had three children:

  • David Vincent Harvey (1941-)
  • Caroline Susan Harvey (1943-)
  • Juliet Mary Elizabeth Harvey (1946-)

He was appointed Companion of the Distinguished Service Order (DSO). He gained the rank of Major in the Scots Guards.

Harvey was Private Secretary to Her Majesty The Queen between 1946 and 1951 and held the office of Extra Gentleman Usher to His Majesty King George VI in 1951. For his service he was appointed Commander of the Royal Victorian Order (CVO).

He passed away, aged 82 years, on 11th June 2001 at Fakenham, Norfolk.
