Biography

Henry Bell Harvey was born in the Ryan's Glade area of Garrett County, Maryland. He grew up in a large farming family in at least one house off of what is now Wildesen Road in Garrett County. He married (1) Margaret ("Maggie") Harvey, a distant cousin. She died ~1915 in surgery for a brain tumor. He married (2) Zada Caskey ~1919. They divorced in 1923. He married (3) Verna Schrock, of Mountain Lake Park.

Henry bought and sold many parcels of land in Garrett County, Maryland, Highlands County, Florida, and on both the Atlantic and Gulf coasts of Florida, but sold most of his real estate holdings at a large financial loss during the Great Depression. He grew citrus for a few years in Highlands County, Florida, and farmed various fruits and vegetables on a farming parcel off of Red Road in Miami, Florida. He also owned and operated a trailer park in Miami, catering to northern US snowbirds, until his sudden death in 1940.
