George John was born on 25 October 1881^[1] at Wangaimoana (Whāngaimoana near Lake Ferry), Wairarapa, New Zealand^[2]. His birth was registered at Greytown^[3]. He was the son of Thomas Harvey and Margaret Ann McPhee.

George Harvey died young.
