Ralph Oscar Harvey, born 14 January 1924 in Greenhurst, Ellery, Chautauqua County, New York, son of Hart H. Harvey and Ruth A. Haley Harvey. He died 12 September 1957 near Bastrop, Louisiana[1] and was buried at the Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Arlington County, Virginia[2]

Capt. Ralph Oscar Harvey, 33 years old, was killed when a B-57 Stratojet bomber crashed and exploded near Bastrop, Louisiana. He enlisted the Airforce in 1943 and served during Word War II in Europe. He was a Second Lieutanant (384th Bomb Group, 546th Bomp Squadron) when he was shot down 16 March 1943 during a mission with the B-17 Flying Fortress “Sissy” to Germany and was made prisoner of war (POW) during 14 months
