Biography

John F Harvey was born April 3, 1862 in Glasgow, Scotland. He was the son of Benjamin Ferguson Harvey and Helen Fechney. The Harveys immigrated to Canada in May 1873 and settled in Dundas, Ontario.

John married Jesse Hawke. Their wedding most likely took place between 1882, the year Jessie turned 18, and 1891, when the couple's first child, Jessie May, was born.

John was listed as a machinist in St. Catherine's.^[8] Sometime between the 1901 census and Hazel's birth at the beginning of 1904, the family moved to 18 Wright Ave. in Toronto.^[9] After the move to Toronto, John is listed as a mechanic.^[10][11]

John died January 22, 1940 in Toronto. ^[12] He is buried at Prospect Cemetery in Toronto with his wife Jesse, son Benjamin, and grand-daughter Jane Ramsden.
