- MOUNT OLIVE - John Preston Harvey died Wednesday, March 21, 2007, at his home in Mount Olive. He was 80.
- A native of Covington County, Mr. Harvey was the son of George W. and Leatres Cruise Harvey. He retired as office manager from the Mississippi Federated Cooperative. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Mount Olive.
- He was a member of Bunker Hill Masonic Lodge of Smith County. He was a Navy veteran, serving in World War II and the Korean War.
- He was preceded in death by a grandson, Christopher Bruce Lancaster.
- Survivors include his wife, Mary McDaniel Harvey of Mount Olive; one son, Ronnie Harvey of Vicksburg; one daughter, Sheila H. Lancaster of Mount Olive; a brother, Emmett Harvey of Collins; and three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
- Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Billy King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
- Visitation will be from 5:30 until 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home
