Kate was born in Hertfordshire, England, in 1881. She was the daughter of Ellen Harvey, but was raised by her grandparents, Philip Harvey and Anne Knight. Kate and her family emigrated to Australia in 1886, aboard the steamship Port Pirie. In 1910, Kate married Ernest Delaforce, and the couple had four children. Kate passed away in 1971, and is interred at the West Kempsey Cemetery.
