George Salley Jr.
This lady was my paternal grandmother. I was 15 years old when she passed on in 1952. She had an apartment on Calhoun St. in Orangeburg, SC, and lived across the hall from my maternal grandmother. They didn't get along well. Mama Salley thought her son (my father) had married beneath himself. My maternal grandmother was Martha Eliza Carr Council (called Mazy by her grandchildren). She was a lot of fun to be with; Mama Salley was almost deaf, and was not fun for two small boys--my brother, Donald Bruce Salley, and me.
