Biography

Alice was born in 1846 in Fremantle, Western Australia.[1] She is the daughter of Thomas Harwood and Janet Fielding.

She married John Smith in Fremantle in 1865.[2] They had three children.

In the baptism record for their second child [3]and the birth index for their third child, her husband's name is recorded as Henry. In the corresponding baptism record, his name is recorded as Henry Butters.[4]

Alice died of congested lungs and was buried at Fremantle on 8 August 1874. Under "profession" in the burial register, it was recorded "husband left colony".[5]
