Biography

Phebe Haskins was born 18 June 1770 in Shutesbury, Massachusetts, the daughter of Nathan Haskins and Phebe Haskins. She is the oldest of their five children recorded in a single entry in Shutesbury town records. [1] Her birth also is logged in town records of Savoy , Massachusetts, where she is listed as the oldest of nine children of Elder Nathan Haskins and his wife Phebe, with her birth on Saturday, June 16, 1770.[2]

On 23 February 1796, David Cobb of Saratoga or Ball town, State of New York, and Phebe Haskins of Bullocks Grant was joined in marriage at Adams, Massachusetts, by Nathan Haskins, Elder.[3]

Research Notes

Shutesbury, Massachusetts, is now in Franklin County, but was in Hampshire County at the time of Phebe's birth.

Bullock's Grant was in Berkshire County. Part of Bullock's Grant became part of the town of Florida in 1805[4] (about seven years after Phebe's marriage).

Haskins-1612 and Haskins-317 appear to represent the same person because: Same name, birth dates 2 days apart, same birthplace (but in 1770 it wasn't Franklin County yet). Check the records and see if these are the same person,

I have checked records and confirmed to my satisfaction that these are intended to represent the same person. A profile message in the profile of Nathan Haskins (connected to Haskins-1612 as her father) names Phebe Cobb as daughter, and Phebe's marriage record shows that Elder Nathan Haskins performed her marriage.

June 16th is the birth date on her town records.
