Shortly after Chloe was born, the family moved to Alpine, Arizona. Her mother died when she was 13 years old and the family lived with their grandmother Pearce for a short time. In May 1900, the family moved to Woodruff, Arizona, where Thomas' father's family lived. From there, in June 1901, they moved to Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada, arriving on September 3, 1901.
The second-oldest child and the oldest daughter, Chloe was often in charge of the younger children. After her mother had been dead for 10 years, her father married her mother's sister, Ona Jane Pearce.
She met her husband, Neil Snow Forsyth, in 1910, when a neighbor brought him over to visit. They started dating and married in December 1911. They made their home in Magrath, Alberta, Canada, where five sons were born. They moved to Cardston in June 1924, and their only daughter was born shortly after, in August. Two more sons joined the family after the family moved to Cardston.[1]
