DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Mercy by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Mercy:
Hatch-99 and Hatch-22 appear to represent the same person because: Same parents, -99 had been created likely as a typo with the name Mark rather than Mercy, but with the same parents and birthdate. There is no evidence that Mark existed, or that Mercy was a twin. No further info on -99. Please merge
Should this be Mercy Hatch? The birthdate is the same, and there is no Mark Hatch found in Barnstable records for these parents - or any parents at all in this timeframe
I don't honestly know w/o doing further research. I think this was an orphan profile. If you wish, and I appreciate, if you want to do further research I would certainly support any conclusions. Thank you for looking into this possibility.
I've searched in Barnstable, and in sources that refer to Jonathan Hatch, and for the name Mark Hatch in Family Search. There is one profile for a Mark Hatch, with the same birthdate and birthplace, but no parents, and nothing but an birthdate from the Ancestral File, which is not a reliable source.
My recommendation is to change the name to Mercy and gender to Female, and then we'll merge it into that profile. The only other option is to mark it as an Uncertain Existence. But, personally, I'd change the name and gender, since this appears to be based on a typo
