Biography
Wait Hatch, named for his paternal grandfather, was born at Falmouth, Massachusetts in 1783; He married Martha Spencer in 1806. Wait died at South Granville, New York, in 1840.
In his Will of 9 October 1839, he names the following children:
- Elmina -- Elmina (Hatch) Ayers (1807–1855)
- Levi Hatch (1809–1898)
- Lydia -- Lydia (Hatch) Brown (1812-1890)
- Jeremiah Hatch (1816-1899)
- Mary -- Mary (Hatch) Whedon (1818–1883) [in the Will, spelled "Wheeden"]
- Sarah -- Sarah Ann (Hatch) Smith (1821–1870)
- Eli Hatch (1824–1904)
- Phebe -- Phebe (Hatch) Smith (1826–1904)
- John Hatch (1831–1916)
Not named in the Will is his son Lewis (listed among his children on Wait's Find A Grave memorial page) who had removed by 1837 to the West (ultimately, residing in McHenry County, Illinois)[1]
