Durant Hatch was born on 5 Oct 1765 to Lemuel Hatch, Sr. and Mary Fonvielle in Craven County, North Carolina. However in a Sons of the American Revolution application, it is noted that he was born in 1750. [1][2]
It is written that as a youth he joined the Revolutionary War, but there is no evidence to show how he became a general.
He married first, Elizabeth Norman around 1783. Then, married second, Mary Elizabeth West on 15 June 1809, Craven Co., NC.[3]
