Martha Hatch was born during the year 1708 in Falmouth (now in Barnstable County), Massachusetts Bay Colony to Samuel Hatch and Lydia Young.

She married Sylvanus Cottle on 9 December 1725 in Tisbury (now Dukes County, i.e. Martha’s Vineyard), Massachusetts Bay Colony. They had eight children.

Martha died sometime between 1741 (the birth of her youngest child) and 1745 (the date of Sylvanus’s remarriage).
