Regarding the additional surname of Clarke used in this profile, I suggest that the name is actually an occupation, present day spelling is Clerk. William was noted as being a School Master while at Tonbridge so it is not surprising to see him later described as a Clerk, perhaps Parish Clerk. Ancestry provides a comma after "Hatch", https://www.ancestry.com/imageviewer/collections/62049/images/62049_0001_0078-00166?treeid=&personid=&usePUB=true&_phsrc=rTU204&_phstart=successSource&pId=2342049

Sorry - I assumed that place of birth 'Selling' was a typo (incorrect) so I changed it to Sellindge. There is a Selling in Kent (which I did not see) so I should have asked questions instead of making change. Put name back to the way it was yesterday
