Biography

Many say he was born in 1811, but the census records show otherwise (except for one, which also has his name misspelled - the 1850 census record, Fentress County, TN). There is a clear connection to Jacob Dudley per other census records.

Wiley was married twice - to Matilda Helm (daughter of Henry Helm) - Jacob Dudley's mother - and to Marena (Elvira) Ritch. He also had children outside of marriage with Elizabeth Hatfield, Landon and Rosa Ann. Evidence for this can be found in the FamilySearch website (census record, Landon's death certificate, his mother's marriage certificate to James Morgan on May 25, 1877).
