Henry was born in Gorton Lancashire before 11 June 1854, which was the date of his christening. He is the son of Abraham Attfield and Mary Johnson.
In each of the census from 1891 to 1911 inclusive, Henry indicated that his occupation was Chief Examiner in the Patent Office, a job which took him variously to Sussex, Hertfordshire and Middlesex - in general he seems to have been well-travelled within England during his lifetime.
It appears that Henry married Mary Homena Stafford in Cheshire in December 1879 (see Cheshire Parish record below). From 1891 Census information, we learn that Henry and Mary became the parents of 2 sons, Henry and Harold.
Henry was widowed upon Mary's death in 1897. We are unable to locate a verifiable death record for Henry (multiple records seen), and, for now, we have recorded his death as being after 1911, at which time he last appeared in the census.
