Joseph Hatfield was baptised on 9 June 1775 at St. Martin in Birmingham.[1] His parents were Joseph Hatfield and Catherine Staples.
Joseph was noted as a gun polisher on the marriage records of his daughter Susannah (1844) and his son Charles (1845 and 1850).[2]
Joseph married Mary Blakemore on 13 August 1799 at St. Mary in Handsworth, near Birmingham. The witnesses were Charles Blakemore and Elizabeth Blakemore.[3] Joseph and Mary had the following children:
Harriot Hatfield was baptised on 29 September 1800 at St. Philip, Birmingham.[4] Harriot married John Gilbert and was a victualler.[5]
Joseph Hatfield, son of Joseph and Mary, was buried on 5 February 1804 at St. Philip.[6]
Charles Hatfield was baptised on 29 January 1806 at St. Philip.[7] Charles was a tortoiseshell box maker and retail brewer.[8][9]
Susannah Hatfield was baptised on 1 February 1808 at St. Philip.[10] Susannah married James Green Brittain.[11]
Joseph's wife, Mary, was buried on 18 June 1809 at St. Mary in Birmingham, described as Joseph's wife.[12]
Joseph probably married again as a Joseph Hatfield (widower) married Jane Millner (widow) on 8 October 1811 at St. Philip in Birmingham. The witnesses were Mary Ann Millner and James Boulton.[13]
Joseph (of Digby Street) was buried on 2 October 1830 at St. Mary, Birmingham, age 55 [c. 1775 birth].[14]
