In the 1820 US Census, enumerated on 7 August 1820, Charles Hatfield in Grayson, Kentucky, was the head of a family consisting of one male age 16-25, presumably himself; one female age 16-25, presumably his wife Sarah; and one female age <10.[2] Although not documented at this time, it is believed that Charles and Sarah married in 1820, which means this female child is unidentified.
In the 1830 US Census, in Randolph, Missouri, Charles Hatfield was head of a family of wife and six children up to age 14, plus a female age 60-69.[3] Again, there is no information regarding the older woman.
In the 1840 US Census in Independence, Missouri, Charles Hatfield was head of a family with wife and seven children; four of those children were under ten, and it is apparent some older children were no longer at home.[4]
On 1 April 1843, Charles Hatfield received patent to 40 acres in Macon, Missouri.[5]
He died 20 January 1847 in Macon County, Missouri, and was buried in Steele Cemetery, Plainview.[1]
