Mary Columbia Hatfield was born about 1853 [1]. She was the daughter of John Hatfield and Mary Crabtree[2][3]. She married Lewis Farley in Kentucky in 1872 [4], at the home of Mary's aunt Phoebe Hatfield [5].
In 1920, at age 69, Mary and Lewis lived in Summers, West Virginia, near several Farley relatives including Walter and Gussie Farley, and Willie & his son Wilbur Farley [7]. Mary passed away in 1933 [8].
Research Notes
Mary and Lewis may have been married under common law prior to their official marriage in 1872. The 1870 census shows Lewis Farley (farm laborer, age 18) and Columbia Farley (age 16, without occupation) living in the household of Clay and Mary Farley [9].
