Elisha Hatfield came from Nova Scotia to New Brunswick about 1837 according to the 1851 census. His birthdate varries depending on which census you look at: 1815(51) to 1822(71). As 1851 is closest to the event that is what is used for his birthdate.
After marrying a much older woman as his first wife he married, secondly, a woman only half his age and they had a child when he was age 49.
