Biography

Sarah was born in about 1848. She was the daughter of George Hathaway and Sarah Smedley.

She was baptised on 21 January 1848 at Moseley, Parkend, St Paul, Gloucestershire, England. Her father was a Collier.^[1]

UK Census Date 1861: Living with her parents and 6 siblings in Park End, West Dean, Monmouthshire, England. Aged about 12.

At the age of 14 Sarah emigrated from England to New Zealand with her parents and siblings on board the Ship Brothers Pride, departing London, England on 23 July 1863, arrived into Lyttelton, Canterbury on 8 December 1863.

She married John Low King on 7 February 1867 at Oxford, Canterbury, New Zealand.

They went on to have at least 10 children.

Sarah passed away in 1924 at the age of about 75 and was buried at Park Island Cemetery, Napier, Napier City, Hawkes Bay, New Zealand^[2]. PLOT: Block 18, Plot 10, Anglican Portion
