Re: Lydia HATHAWAY of VA 1772-1842 Posted by: Ruth Hathaway Keightley Date: October 12, 1998 at 08:01:20 In Reply to: Lydia HATHAWAY of VA 1772-1842 by Tom Chuderski of 3004 Go. " Hi Tom: I'm the Genealogist for the Hathaway Family Association, a non-profit organization started in Massachusetts in 1911. We have published three genealogy books, available in many libraries, or for purchase. We have scant data on your Lydia, from our 1980 book, HATHAWAYS 1200 - 1980, page 483, which follows: LEONARD listed as a settler in the area of Little River, Beaverdam Cree, grant to James Richardson in 1783, formerly Upper District of Botetourt, in 1789 annexed to Montgomery, VA with Cole, Iddings, Light, Likins, Penelton and Sellers. Much data from Erma Sowers who is a double descendant of Leonard and Susannah and has completed ten generations of this family. She found no land in Leonard's name, but lives in Check, VA within sight of Elijah Light's old home place on the South Fork of the Roanoke. She believes Leonard died before his daughters' marriages but it is possible he went into Tennessee with sons. Three daughters of Leonard and Susannah: Hannah, m. Franklin Co., VA 3 Oct. 1791 James Light b. Morris Co. (N.J.?)1770; will dated 19 Apr. 1853; Lydia m. Montgomery Co., VA Nov. 1792 Henry Light; Rhoda m. Montgomery Co., VA 2 Dec 1795 Peter Willson."

Leonard Willington Hathaway was born about 1750. He passed away about 1810.

However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Leonard:

Hathaway-4097 and Hathaway-687 appear to represent the same person because: They have the same dates of birth and death.
