Richard Hathaway was the son of Richard Hathaway. husbandman, of Shottery, a small village about a mile west of the market town of Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire.
He was baptised on 4 January 1561/2 at Holy Trinity, Stratford, and entered in the parish register as "Richardus filius Richardi Hathaway als Gardner."[1]
He is thought to have died young because his father did not mention him when he made his will in September 1581.[2][3] There is no record of his burial in the parish registers of Holy Trinity, Stratford. However, there are two entries for the burial of "Richardus filius Richardi Hath[a]way also Gardner" on 28 March 1561 and 1 April 1561.[4]
