Biography

William was born in 1818. He was the son of Joseph Houff and Margaret Smith. He passed away in 1883.

On 19 Sep 1839 in Greene County, Tennessee, William Huff married Maria Thompson (16 Feb 1820 Tennessee - 2 Jun 1881). At times, Maria was recorded as Mariah. They were married by Samuel Gregg, M.G. The minister who solemnized the marriage may have been the Samuel Gregg, son of John Gregg, who served as the first pastor of Meadow Creek Presbyterian Church from 1837-1843.[1]
