Benjamin Haupt was born in Delps, Northampton, Pennsylvania, on July 30, 1811. He was the son of Christian Haupt and Catharine Unknown Reinschmidt.
Benjamin married Sarah Ann Hontz sometime before 1838 (when their first child was born). They had nine children - Mary Ann, Matilda, William, Susan, Nathan, Alfred, Katherine, Charles Martin, and Elvin Hontz.
From 1850 to 1870, the couple and their children (and in 1870, Sarah's father) lived in Mahoning, Carbon, Pennsylvania, where Benjamin worked as a farm laborer.[1][2][3]
Benjamin reached 67 years of age and died in Lehighton, Carbon, Pennsylvania, on January 13, 1879. He was buried at Gnaden Huetten Cemetery in Lehighton, Carbon, Pennsylvania.[4]
