Research Notes

1) At the time of Michael Hausauer and Margaretha Zittel’s births, the French Republican Calendar was in use. Using the converter found here: Revolutionary calendar - Napoleon & Empire, Michael’s date of birth was converted from 4th Prairial Year IX to 24 May 1801.

2) Michael Hausauer’s date of birth on the marriage record is recorded incorrectly as the month Floréal Year IX. There were no Hausauer births during that month in the birth register, and his birth is recorded in that same register as 4th Prairial Year IX to parents Micheal Hausauer and Dorothea Weber. Both his parents are present and consent and her mother is present and consents. Her father, Johannes Zittel died in 1819.

3) Witnesses to the marriage are:

  • Jean Weimer, an uncle to Margaretha Zittel
  • Jean Hausauer, a brother-in-law to Michael Hausauer [Brother or brother-in-law?]
  • George Wüst, a brother-in-law to Michael Hausauer [He has an uncle by this name. Is it him or someone else?]
  • Jean Heberlé, a brother-in-law to Magaretha Zittel. He is married to her sister, Catherine.
