Biography

Steven Havens was born about 1810 in Vermont, United States.^[1][2] His father was George Havens.^[1] (His birthplace is listed as Vermont on the 1870 census and death certificate,^[1] New York on the 1860 census, and Massachusetts on the 1850 and 1880 census^[3][4])

He married Catherine Teachout. (Her birth name is listed on the death certificate for their daughter Lodema Bowers.^[5]

In 1850, Stephen Havens (40) and Catherine Havens (33) were living in White Oak, Ingham, Michigan, with children Harriet (14), Sarah (12), Stephen (10), Mary (9), William (8), Almira (4), Henry (3) and Lodema (0). He was a farmer.^[3]

In the 1880 US census, Steven Havens (70) and Catharin Havens (63) were living in White Oak, Inham, Michigan, with children Steven (42) and Sarah (44) and grandson Steven O'dell (16). He was a retired farmer.^[4]

Stephen Havens died on 13 May 1888 in White Oak, Ingham County, Michigan.^[1] He was buried at Wright Cemetery, Iosco, Livingston County, Michigan, United States.^[2]
