Biography
Roe Haviland, son of William Haviland & Elizabeth Alburtis, was born 10 Sep 1798 in Little Neck, NY. He married firstly on 8 Nov 1825 at Christ's Presbyterian Church, South Hempstead, Long Island, NY to his first cousin, widow Mrs. Mary Bloodgood Cutter, daughter of Roe Haviland & Mary Bloodgood. They had issue: George W., Caleb, William Roe, Mary Elizabeth, and Julia Ann. [1]
Strangely referred to as "Roe Haviland, Jr." in some documents to differentiate him from his father-in-law and uncle Roe Haviland (his wife Mary's father).
He married secondly on 22 May 1841 in Newtown, Long Island, NY to Julia Ann MacDonald, daughter of William MacDonald & Mary Smith of New York City. They had issue: Charlotte, Sarah, John, Emma, Henry Martin, Eugene Caleb, and Susanna. [1]
He died 9 Nov 1856 in Little Neck, NY and was buried 10 Nov 1856 at the Zion Episcopal Churchyard, Douglaston (Little Neck), NY. "Administration papers on estate of Roe Haviland, deceased, granted to his sons, George W. and William Roe Haviland, Dec. 15, 1856; deceased being of North Hempstead, L. I." [1]
