Thomas was born in 1874. He was the son of Augustus Hawes and Eliza Norris. His mother died a few days after giving birth to his brother, Benjamin. In 1880, he was living with his father and stepmother, Mattie Davis Hawes.[1]
Thomas married Stella Virginia Wright on January 22, 1896, in Decatur County, Georgia.[2] In 1900, he and Stella and their two children, Florence and Elvira, were living as boarders in the home of Stella's parents, William and Florence Wright, in Bainbridge, Decatur County, Georgia.[3] Stella died in 1909, By 1910, Thomas was still living with Stella's father and brother in Bainbridge, and had his two daughters with him.[4]
He married Maybelle Williams in Decatur County, Georgia on Sept 29,1910.
In 1918, Thomas registered for the WWI draft in Bainbridge, Decatur County, Georgia.[5] His occupation was listed as a lawyer and farmer. His wife, Maybelle, was listed as his nearest relative. He was described as tall and stout with brown hair and eyes.
He passed away in 1925 in Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia.[6] Burial was in the Oak City Cemetery in Bainbridge, Decatur County, Georgia.[7]
