Biography

Sarah Hawes was born on June 18, 1801, to Ebenezer Hawes and Thankful (Thacher) Hawes of Yarmouth, Massachusetts.[1][2]

On August 8, 1822, Sarah married Benjamin Cobb in Dartmouth, Bristol County, Massachusetts.[2][3][4] They had one child together - a son they named Benjamin - who was born on December 12, 1823.[5]

Sarah's husband Benjamin passed away on August 18, 1824, in New Orleans, at the age of 28.[6]

On August 23, 1850, Sarah (48) and her son Benjamin (26) lived in New Bedford, Massachusetts.[7]

In August of 1855, Sarah and her son Benjamin lived in New Bedford, Massachusetts.[8]

In 1860, Sarah (58) and her son Benjamin (36) lived in New Bedford, Massachusetts.[9]

In 1865, Sarah (64) and her son Benjamin (41) lived in New Bedford, Massachusetts, this time with Margaret Hawes (50), Michael Consey (40) and Margaret Consey (27).[10]

On July 15, 1870, Sarah (69) lived alone in her house in New Bedford, Massachusetts.[11]

Sarah passed away on February 15, 1877, in New Bedford, Massachusetts.[1][2] She is buried in South Dartmouth Cemetery, Dartmouth, Bristol County, Massachusetts, USA.[1]
