Biography

Frederick George Hawes was born on 12 Apr 1884 at St Giles, Middlesex, England. He was baptised on 1 Oct 1885 at Haggerston St Mary, Hackney, Middlesex. He was the son of Frederick George Hawes and Martha Candler.[1][2]

In the 1891 census, Frederick G Hawes was age 6 living at Mansfield Street, Shoreditch, London with his father Frederick G Hawes (47), mother Martha Hawes (33), siblings Annie C Hawes (8), Edith D Hawes (3).[3]

In the 1901 census, Frederick Hawes was age 17 living at Hackney, London with his father Frederick G Hawes (57), mother Martha Hawes (43), siblings Christine Hawes (18), Edith Hawes (13), Stanley Hawes (9). Occupation: Boot Salesman.[4]

Frederick George Hawes and Editha Annie Walker married on 14 Apr 1907 at West Hackney, Hackney, Middlesex.[5] They had two known children: Frederick Ronald Hawes (b. 1908), Phyllis Edith Hawes (b. 1913).

In the 1911 census, Frederick Hawes was age 26 living at Islington, London with his wife Editha Hawes (26), son Ronald Hawes (2). Occupation: Foreman Confectioner.[6]

During World War I, Frederick enlisted on 11 Dec 1915 and joined the Royal Engineers Wireless Corps. He qualified as a Fitter and was posted to various locations in Africa including Durban, Daressalaam, Nairobi, Mombasa. He was demobilised on 7 Nov 1919.[7]

Frederick's wife Editha died in 1935.

In 1939, Frederick G Hawes (b. 12 Apr 1884) widower was living at 72 Farm Road, Southgate, Middlesex. Occupation: Manager Sugar Confectioner Factory.[8]

Frederick George Hawes and Beatrice Florence Simpson married in late-1939 in Edmonton, Middlesex.[9]

Frederick George Hawes of Marlyns, Pinehurst Road, West Moor, Dorset died on 13 Mar 1963 at Royal Victoria Hospital, Boscombe, Bournemouth, Dorset age 78.[10][11]
