Biography
Charles Hawke was born in 1862 in Roche, Cornwall, England to Thomas Hawke and Mary Jane (Cullum) Hawke. His birth was registered in St Austell, Cornwall in the last quarter of the year, with mother's maiden name Cullom.[1]
Charles Hawke, son of Thomas & Mary Jane, was christened on 14 Dec 1862 in Roche.[2]
In 1871 Charles Hawke (age 8) lived in Belowda, Roche with his father Thomas (35, Miner), mother Mary Jane (30), and three brothers: John (6), Thomas H (4), and Arthur (0).[3]
In 1881 Charles Hawke (age 18, China Clay Labourer) lived in Roche with his father Thomas (46, China Clay Labourer), mother Mary J (40), and five siblings: John (16, China Clay Labourer), Thomas H (13, Scholar), Arthur (10, Scholar), Anna J (6), Joseph J C (2).[4]
On 25 Dec 1886, Charles Hawke (age 24, Bachelor, Clay Labourer, son of Thomas Hawke, Farmer) married Susan Yelland (age 28, Spinster, daughter of Thomas Yelland (deceased), Captain of Clay Work) at the parish church of St Stephen in Brannel - the witnesses were Thomas Henry Hawke, Mary Jane Hawke, John Hawke, & John Yelland.[5] The marriage was registered in St Austell in the last quarter of the year.[6]

In 1891 Charles Hawke (age 28, Clay Labourer) lived at Lower Trerank in Roche with his wife Susan (32) and son Thomas C (1).[7]
In 1901 Charles Hawke (age 43[38], Farmer) lived in Roche with his wife Susan (38[43]) and four children: Thomas Charles (11), John Henry (8), Joseph (6), and Hannah Jane (2).[8]
In 1911 Charles Hawke (age 48, Labour & Farmer) lived in Roche with his wife Susan (52) and four children: John (18, Clay Labour), Joseph (16, Clay Labour), Hannah J (12), and Auther (9).[9]
Charles' wife Susan Hawke passed away in 1931.
Charles Hawke passed away in 1952, aged 89 years. His death was registered in St Austell in the first quarter of the year.[10]
