Biography
Alfred was born in 1892 and joined the Royal Navy as a boy sailor. On becoming an able seaman he served on the China station in Shanghai, and later served in the submarine service during the 1914-18 war. On leaving the Royal Navy he joined the Merchant Navy for several years, then later working in the scaffolding industry. He married Gertrude on 16th Sep 1912. His death is recorded in 1960.
