Biography

Charles Hawkes was born on about 6 February 1846. He was the son of William Hawkes and his wife Jane.

He emigrated from England to Australia where he married Ellen Lees in 1867 at Concord, New South Wales.

They went on to have about six children:

1. John W Hawkes (b. 1868)
2. Jane R E Hawkes (b. 1869, d. 1926)
3. Charles Alexander Hawkes (b. 1873, d. 1959)
4. Edward Benjamin James Hawkes (b. 1875, d. 24 Sep 1937)
5. George Herbert Hawkes (b. 1876, d. 1948)
6. Adeline Florence Amy Hawkes (b. 1881, d. 21 Oct 1937)

His wife died in 1911.

He passed away on 7 November 1922 and was buried at Moorefields Methodist Cemetery, Kingsgrove, Canterbury-Bankstown Council, New South Wales, Australia^[1].
