This John Hawkes probably was a son of Hannah (James; 1748-aft.1803) and John Hawkes (1749-1827).
John Hawkes died 8 October 1847, age 74 years. His grave is represented to be in Middle Cemetery, Lancaster, Worcester County, Massachusetts, USA [1]. No grave marker is depicted.

The following note appears in an online family searching service [2]:
- Some confusion has been noted in marriage date. To clear this up, they were first married by William Stedman, Justice of the Town of Lancaster, and also the Town Clerk, on 26 Oct 1795 (P. 133 Lancaster VR). Following this, thay had a church wedding, performed by Nathaniel Thayer on 26 Oct 1797 (also Lancaster VR). Note the date. Apparently wanted to solemnize the wedding on their aniversary.
