Emily was born in 1858. She was the daughter of Harmon Hawkins and Harriet Hulse. She passed away in 1891, age 33.

She married in 1882 Ebenezer Blydenburgh, who gained notoriety for the suspicious deaths of his 2nd and 3rd wives. During the subsequent investigation, evidence emerged that all three of his first wives - including Emily - died from arsenic poisoning.
He was convicted of murder, sentenced to prison, but had the conviction overturned on appeal. He married the 4th time and moved to California.
