Biography
Lela (Hawkins) Hicks is a part of US Black heritage.
Lela was born in 1926. She was the daughter of James Hawkins and Kate Raines. She passed away in 1981.
She was a school teacher at Crispus Attucks High School and IPS schools 43, 4, 63 and 110. She retired in 1982.
She was a graduate of Howard University and the University of Paris in France and did graduate work in fashion design at the Sorbonne in France, Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis, Butler University and Herron School of Art.
