He married Emma Chamberlain on 7 August 1873 at Wollombi, New South Wales, Australia[2]and their children were Eliza Emma Hawkins, Henry Hawkins, John Hawkins, Albert Edward Hawkins, Walter George Hawkins and Frederick William Hawkins.
