Research Notes

I have found David & Sarah's second child listed as 'Joseph A', 'Joseph Adelaide', 'Adelaide' and 'Adelaide Josephine'. I haven't found records of a spouse or children to compare. I would guess there might have been twins and one died young, probably the girl, but it's only a guess.

The 1880 census lists a grandaughter Mary. According to the Hawkins genealogy there was none. Wesley had Ruth & Wesley; Joseph, Whitfield & Franklin died unmarried and Harvey had Waldemar. Sarah died young and Ella married Mr Peters & had Robert & Clement. In the image of the census the name is smeared but the first letter looks more like 'W' than 'M' and could be Wesley but the relationship is clearly 'grandaughter' although the 'F' seems to have been overwritten with an 'M'. Take into account that the second child is listed as 'Adelaide - F - daughter' whereas "Hawkins" lists 'Joseph Adelaide' presumably a male child.
